To activate the automatic engine heater follow this procedure:

With the Bike on the side stand
Start the engine
Pull the clutch lever in for 2 seconds
Release the clutch lever

The automatic engine heater is ON.
The automatic engine heater will be disabled if you: move the bike, lift the sidestand or pull in the clutch lever.
